How to get started with the simulator?

Modified on Mon, 29 Sep at 5:11 AM

Yes—start with CNC Academy for structured tutorials, and use the Online Help as your reference.

Quick start checklist

  1. Install & launch the latest CNC Simulator Pro.

  2. Activate (trial or license). Keep your License ID handy via License → Copy to clipboard.

  3. Open CNC Academy and follow the tutorials:

    • Product tour & UI basics

    • First milling/turning program

    • SimCam basics → generate toolpaths → simulate → export G‑code

  4. Keep the Online Help open for look‑ups (G‑codes, cycles, settings).

  5. Simulate and verify: use single‑block, feed hold, and check units (G20/G21), work offsets (G54…G59), and tool lengths.

Recommended first steps inside the app

  • Set your units (mm/inch) and other preferences.

  • Create or load a simple SimCam project (e.g., a pocket or facing routine).

  • Run the simulation; watch toolpaths, collisions, and messages.

Tip: Keep a standard preamble in your programs (e.g., G17 G21 G40 G49 G80 G90, G54) so results match the tutorials.
