How to Install a Pre-Release, Beta, or Test Version of CNC Simulator Pro

When we provide you with an unofficial pre-release, beta version, or any other test version of CNC Simulator Pro, it will not come as a standard installer application. Instead, you will receive a download link to a zipped file containing the cncsimulator.exe file and potentially other related files. Follow these steps to correctly install and test the provided version:

Installation Steps:

  1. Download and Unzip the File

    • Download the provided zipped file.

    • Extract the contents of the zip file using a tool like Windows File Explorer, WinRAR, or 7-Zip.

  2. Locate the Installation Folder

    • The default installation folder for CNC Simulator Pro is:

      C:\Program Files\CNCSimulator.com\CNC Simulator Pro
    • If you are unsure of the exact installation location, follow these steps:

      • Open CNC Simulator Pro.

      • Navigate to the View menu and click on Cmd Prompt.

      • In the command window, type:

        installation

        and press Enter.

      • This will open the installation folder in File Explorer.

  3. Backup the Original Executable

    • Before replacing any files, exit CNC Simulator Pro completely.

    • Locate the existing cncsimulator.exe file in the installation folder.

    • Rename it to something like cncsimulator_original.exe to keep a backup.

  4. Replace the Executable File

    • Copy the new cncsimulator.exe from the unzipped folder.

    • Paste it into the installation directory, replacing the existing executable.

  5. Run the New Version

    • Launch CNC Simulator Pro as usual and test the new features or fixes included in the test version.

Reverting to the Original Version

If you want to switch back to the official release, simply:

  • Delete the test version of cncsimulator.exe.

  • Rename cncsimulator_original.exe back to cncsimulator.exe.

  • Restart CNC Simulator Pro.

Following these steps ensures a smooth transition between official and test versions while keeping a backup of your original installation.
