Can I use CNC Simulator Pro in a place with no Internet?

Modified on Mon, 29 Sep at 4:07 AM

Short answer: No. CNC Simulator Pro requires a working Internet connection to start (license verification) and for several online features (account/services, documentation, updates). The app must be able to reach our servers over HTTP (port 80) when launching and periodically while running.

If you’re fully offline (air‑gapped workshop, remote site, or flight mode), the simulator will not operate.

Why an Internet connection is required

  • License verification & security

  • Cloud‑based features and services (account, refills, content)

  • Online help & updates

Practical options when you’re on site

  • Mobile hotspot / tethering from a phone or 4G/5G router.

  • Temporary connection via venue/guest Wi‑Fi.

  • Corporate/School networks: ask IT to allow outbound HTTP/ HTTPS to our domains and licensing endpoints (contact support for the current list). Ensure TLS inspection isn’t breaking certificate trust.

Tip: If you expect flaky connectivity, keep the connection available during your session; dropping to zero connectivity can interrupt services.

Quick connectivity check (before you go offline)

  1. Launch CNC Simulator Pro and confirm it reaches the start screen without errors.

  2. Open a browser and confirm you can access our website and help pages.

  3. Verify your system date/time is correct (SSL/TLS requires accurate clock).

  4. If you use a proxy/VPN, make sure Windows and your AV/firewall allow the app’s traffic.

Not a fit for strictly offline environments

If your site cannot provide any Internet at all, CNC Simulator Pro will not run there. Consider arranging connectivity for the workstation, or running the simulator at a connected location for preparation/training and bringing exported G‑code with you.

If you still have issues

Email support@cncsimulator.com with:

Subject: Cannot start – No Internet environment
License ID: <paste from Copy to clipboard>
CNC Simulator Pro version / Windows version: <e.g., 4.0.1.4 / Windows 11 23H2>
Network context: <home / corporate / school / air-gapped>
What you tried: <hotspot, proxy off, firewall allow, etc.>
Exact error text or screenshot: <paste or attach>

We’ll verify domains/ports to allowlist and help you confirm connectivity.

Bottom line: CNC Simulator Pro needs Internet access to operate. With a hotspot or an approved outbound HTTP path, you’ll be good to go.
